What is it that penetrates you?
What pierces your mind's mechanical routines and provokes your heart?
What is it that unexpectedly catches your attention...like a dream that creeps in and stays?
What image or glimpse of a wild thing holds you in it's glance?
What asks without words, for your response?
In the pre-dawn hours of stillness in this waning moon night, the coyotes again, belted out a chorus that moved across the landscape and entered the opened windows of the barely awake human resident's homes of lower Boulder. The first time had Ubuntu, my pup, barking in startled awareness. This time though, after he rushed to the screen door a allowed a hush of deep listening, a most melodic tone sang out of his mouth. I could not see him in the still dark room, but I could hear a kind of sincerity in his offering. I felt him not only responding in a kind of brotherly recognition, but it was as if he joined that pack of wild tricksters in a moment of solidarity...a shared language that surpasses human understanding or control, whose ancient chthonic tones root into a time before now.
What song or sound beckons you to join it's feral way?
Where does it lead you?
What is remembered in your cells?
