This world of blogging is that for me…exposure.
Exposure in another form came to me last year when I said yes to a brilliant and gifted artist who had participated in a yearlong program I had guided. She shared with us an amazing stylized painting she had done of herself in the company of her numerous animal guides. I was mesmerized. Being a woman who lives immersed in the animal world in every way I can, this painting drew me and had me fumbling towards asking Dena if she might be willing to be hired to paint such a painting of me and my allies. She didn’t hesitate. She knew it was her work. She said yes.
The experience, which ended up being a multifaceted transformational experience of trust and intuitive beauty, lasting a year and a half.
It changed me in ways I could never have imagined when I first asked her to consider it.
I shared with Dena stories of my inner and outer world…my private world known only to me, and other more public events from my life with animals. She turned me inside out. She called me into an Other world and I realized what an immense impact these animal beings have had on me, soulfully and heartfully. Dena listened with her eyes and ears, and more importantly, her heart. She humbly carries the gift of a kind of intuitive ‘seeing’ and so when she is told a story, her experience is often very different from others, and that experience guides her with her paint and brushes.
Throughout the 18 months the canvas was a moving menagerie of animal friends, allies and teachers. She felt certain beings appear and she would give them color and form, and then often, they moved off again and she, being a devoted translator, would erase them from the painting. It was remarkable how often she would email me and tell me how bear had barged in, or spider was tenaciously hovering and I, in turn, would respond with some story that often affirmed the presence of this energy in my life. This went on for months. Dena was deliberate and committed, infatuated and enthusiastic. She clearly loved this art form and it had it’s way with her. The experience was extraordinary for both of us, I believe. Rarely have I felt quite so seen and tracked as in this particular arena. It fed me and brought that world alive for me…opening up relationships and mysteries with those animals that are very alive still.
My blog is not a place for presentations or advertisements, but I needed to share this with you as it was an opportunity that changed me. This woman who is claiming her artist self is plunging into this world and generously offering herself up to being used in this way. I can tell you that this process is unique and extraordinary. I present to you, the painting she did and I invite you to let me connect you to
Dena Watson-Krasts, should you want to venture into the terrain of this kind of moving and transformational art.
