Tidal Wash
I bow deeply on this day, to the tidal rhythm here…so constant and steady…silently effecting all the world. With the Virgo Full Moon this week, came the rush of a high and pounding surf….alll the world seemed to meet the energy of rush of tide and wave and moon. And in this moment, at the edge of the Golfo Dulce at low tide, it seems the world has gone into resting mode. Day by day, hour by hour, the world demonstrates to us that there are rhythms innate in our living that, when honored, guide us and allow us a range of expression and feelings. We are beings with hearts and bodies that need both quiet times and bold expression.
Our hearts contract and expand thousands of times a day…guiding us…reminding us that this is what hearts do…the contract and expand…they open and close.
Sing Loud
As Rumi said, we are hollow reeds, nothing more…our task is to climb up on the roof tops and sing loud our God note.
Here at the lip of the primary rain forest, the birds and the monkeys heed this call. In the density of their home environment, for many, their voices are important. The Howler Monkeys whose voice has become my morning alarm that I have grown so fond of, has the loudest voice of any terrestrial animal on earth. Blue Whale having the loudest. This has caused me to wonder why. I understand it to have territorial implications and yet…why so loud? The forest is thick so I suppose it is one way to find each other as well. And so many of the birds sing SO loudly their communal choir becomes a symphony of expression.
Could it be true that in this time of unprecedented numbers of humans on the planet that the need is greater than ever, to express ourselves with gusto…without fear….our particular expression of our loving of the world MUST be heard now.
It may just be now or never.
What is Primary?
In Costa Rica, sixty percent of the land is currently covered with forest where once nearly all the country was blanketed. Of that sixty percent, only six percent is surviving primary rainforest. Like anywhere, old growth forest is a wealth of riches that are mostly undiscovered.
Susan, one of the owners of Finca Saladero, a gorgeous isolated eco-Lodge on the Gulfo Dulce, shared with me that really we only know about one percent of just what mysteries lie in these forests. Undoubtedly, there are medicines for most of what ales us, if not all of what sickens us. The medicine, of course, is varied, including the more subtle level of healing gifts that come with simply being in the presence of such majestic harmony. The golden threads of what is left still intact as primary ecosystems are nearly ephemeral traces of balanced and thriving Creative Forces that retain a bounty in a unified and reciprocal relational field that can heal on nearly every level.
When I walk into this primary forest here at the edge of Piedra Blanca National Park, I can feel that something is different here. It nearly hums in with a kind of relational wisdom.
When you ask yourself what is primary in you, what do you find?
Can you still find it in your life?
Are you nourishing it and allowing it to grow and give it’s gifts to you?
What is primary is vanishing at astounding rates on this planet overrun with humans. What is primary inside of us, is also vanishing and nearly forgotten in too many of us.
I believe there are isolated reservoirs of great wisdom pockets in us, but we must seek them out and give them our attention. And once discovered, they must be protected. In diving into our body’s awareness, we find portals that will carry us into the blossoming forests within us that hold untold secrets and medicine for our hearts in these times.
Stop what you are doing and simply notice what you are aware of in your body and heart…you will be guided
